My first month as a member of Team Sunweb has been an eye-opening experience – it’s all so different to what I’m used to.

I have really enjoyed being a part of such a professional set-up. We have regular team meetings where we discuss tactics and racing. It’s very exciting being part of a team full of young talented girls with a clear vision in terms of building for the future.

I’m really looking forward to meeting my teammates. Up until now, most of my interactions with the girls have been through videoconference calls. I managed to see Floortje and Julia a few times in Sittard, but unfortunately in the Netherlands, we are only allowed to ride in groups of two. I’m hoping that in the coming months restrictions will be eased and we can all train together.

It’s been great receiving all the new equipment too. It’s safe to say that I’ve fallen in love with my Cervélo bike – it’s just so fast! It’s fantastic when going downhill and laying on the bike frame but most importantly, it’s great for sprinting!

I’m a big fan of the kit too, I love my new Dutch tricolour. It’s all over my social media.

The standard summer kit looks really fresh too and I think it’s more distinguishable in the peloton. Plus, wearing white in the heat of summer is so much better and I think my favourite part of the kit are the white socks! I can’t wait to show it off in races.

I’ve been training a lot during the lockdown period and have been enjoying going out on the bike much more. The main aim for this year was to take more victories than last season, which is going to be even harder now.

I also want to develop my climbing in order to be in contention for races like the Tour of Flanders and Amstel Gold Race. At Team Sunweb, I hope to take my sporting career to the next step; in the coming years I want to win more jerseys and become European and World Champion. I already have my eye on the Olympics in Paris where I’m hoping the parcours will suit me well. I want to win as many races as possible at the highest level and be at the top of the women’s peloton.

Don't miss out!
