Team Sunweb and DHL Express in the Netherlands are very proud to announce a partnership for the upcoming three years, in which they join forces in their respective sustainability agendas. DHL is well aware of the need for CO2 reduction and is looking forward to a substantial growth of their GoGreen program and the portfolio of environmentally responsible shipping options. Team Sunweb will promote DHL’s GoGreen program in the years to come.
Team Sunweb is proud ambassador of Trees for All; this non-profit organisation is committed to fostering more forest around the globe and offers carbon compensation through sustainable forest projects. DHL is increasing their environmental commitment through the extensive GoGreen program and as part of the program, DHL has now partnered up with Team Sunweb, with the team promoting the program and its related products.
As a result of this partnership, a percentage of the achieved CO2 reduction through DHL’s GoGreen program will be used to plant trees (on top of the GoGreen program), beautifully symbolising the strength of the Team Sunweb and DHL partnership, and their joint efforts to contribute to a better and greener world. DHL teams up with Trees for All to plant trees in the Netherlands and abroad. In addition, the aim is to place trees in the Netherlands in the Province of Limburg and the Dreiländer region (Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands), on iconic cycling locations in Limburg such as the Tom Dumoulin Bike Park. The partnership was today announced at the opening of the DHL GoGreen Service Center in Limburg. This service center operates at the highest sustainability standards within the DHL organisation.
Iwan Spekenbrink (CEO Team Sunweb) is very happy to launch such an innovative partnership: “DHL is willing to take a lot of responsibility to create a better world and we are impressed by the DHL GoGreen program. Through this partnership, residents, visitors and our riders (who train in Limburg on a daily basis) will see actual results in their daily lives in those cycling locations. We are grateful that DHL chooses to plant these trees in such iconic cycling locations, and by doing so supporting the good work of Trees for All to contribute to a healthy and green world, and we are appreciative that the Province of Limburg and their communities are willing to facilitate this.”
Ronald Leunisse (Managing Director DHL Express the Netherlands): “This partnership with Team Sunweb is another step on our journey in becoming the most sustainable logistics provider in the world. Our ambition is to be emission free in 2050 in our worldwide operations. To achieve that, we have to act now. In the Netherlands we pace up by investing in sustainable buildings, green fleet and by introducing smart solutions in our last mile delivery. Alongside this, we use as many bikes as possible in delivering our parcels. With Team Sunweb, we share a mutual passion for cycling and sustainability and want to inspire the Dutch public today to take small steps towards a greener world tomorrow.“
