After breaking his jaw earlier this year at Paris-Nice stage one, Team Sunweb’s Martijn Tusveld is set to return to racing at the Criterium du Dauphine this weekend, having made significant steps in his recovery.
“Last Friday Martijn had another visit to the hospital where he had the last of the brace removed from his mouth,” explained Team Sunweb physician Camiel Aldershof. “His training is going well now that he is back on the road without any limitations and we’re really happy with the progress that he has made. With a good nutritional plan we are confident in his return to racing this weekend.”
Martijn added: “The recovery from my crash took longer than expected, but fortunately I’ve been able to train on the mountain bike over the last period and had some good sessions on the Elite trainer indoors. Since I’ve been back riding on the road I’ve had no problems which I’m really happy about, and I’m really looking forward to getting back into racing with the team next week.”
