Xandres first saw a road bike on a trip to Decathlon at the age of nine. After bugging his parents, they bought it for him as a present, despite not being from a traditional cycling family. After training with the cycling school, and getting tips on how to race, Xandres took to the start line.
The young Belgian rider has just signed for Team Sunweb’s Development program, and already has a second place in the junior E3 Harelbeke to his name. Now he hopes to develop his all-round skills on the bike, as well as his attitude and approach off the bike in training and nutrition, supported by the team’s experts.
Quiet, hard-working, gritty and determined, Xandres dreams of becoming a pro cyclist, and is ready to do everything it takes to get to that level, inspired by the likes of Michael Matthews, Tom Dumoulin and Sam Oomen.
Xandres, who high fives his dad before every race for good luck, will balance his training and racing commitments alongside studies in Environmentalism at university. Away from cycling, he enjoys karting and relaxing with friends.
