After watching older brother Asbjørn train and race as a youngster, Søren Kragh Andersen soon wanted to ride a bike as well. What began as a hobby for the two young boys became fully fledged cycling careers, with Asbjørn joining Søren at Team Sunweb this season.
And Søren has emerged at the start of 2019 as one of the most exciting up-and-coming riders in the professional peloton.
The 24-year-old has enjoyed his best season to date, clinching the Paris-Tours 2018 title, a stage win at Tour de Suisse, and helping Tom Dumoulin to second place at the Tour de France.
What more can you expect from a young Danish rider who simply loves racing – and winning?
But you wouldn’t find Søren at a race without his cuddly toy seacow, Henriette, for good luck.
As an all-rounder Classics specialist, Søren cannot wait to get stuck in to the Flemish Classics this spring, as well trying to secure a place in the roster at the Tour de France to help the team leader secure the best GC position. Clearly, the Tour of Oman stage winner also prioritises team ambitions.
Søren loves fishing, hiking, and being outdoors with nature, but his one true love is simply riding the bike. He loves the sport.
Dual personality – Søren on the bike is totally different to Søren off the bike. On the bike he is a race monster and shows no mercy, off the bike he is a total sweetheart, calm, caring, thoughtful and professional.
