Now in his third season with the Team Sunweb Development program, Martin has big aims in his last year as an Under-23 rider.
The 21-year-old has a Nations Cup stage win to his name as well as fifth in the 2015 Junior World Championships road race, and third in the National Junior road race.
An all-rounder, Martin favours short, punchy climbs and one-day Classics races and is aiming to prove himself, as well as progressing and securing a stagiaire role for the WorldTour team to ride alongside the likes of team leader Tom Dumoulin and long-serving domestiques Roy Curvers and Johannes Frohlinger.
Martin started riding at a young age, and after heading to the track, training three times a week, he was eager to start racing as soon as he had his licence.
A determined rider, with a sarcastic sense of humour, Martin has dual nationality as he has British parents living in Germany. He is optimistic in his outlook on life, and speaks Dutch, French, German and English. Off the bike he enjoys reading about history, fantasy, sci-fi or classic novels and biographies.
