Marius joins the Development Team Sunweb Development with a junior world silver medal in the 2018 road race to his name, and a huge heap of ambition with it. Aged just 18, the future is looking bright for the young and motivated German.

At the beginning, spurred on by his father, Marius started mountain biking with his local club and soon transferred to the road, after seeing a poster for a road race. On the start line, he realised how fun it was. Spotted by a trainer, he soon made a fulltime switch to the road, and began racing with a team.

“I love how fast and hard it is. And the feeling when you’ve been successful, that’s the best bit about it. That’s my motivation.”

Somewhat of an all-rounder, Marius hopes to develop his skills and be a good team player, attracted to Developmnt Team Sunweb to make his dreams come true.

“Team Sunweb is very professional and having the WorldTour and the Development programs running alongside each other was very important to me. I have the best chance to develop here. The team has a great philosophy, for me as a young rider wanting to develop.”

As the junior road captain, Marius believes he has a good eye on a race situation, and has the ability to make quick decisions, stay calm under pressure and deliver team orders.

Off the bike, Marius loves relaxing and catching up with friends, although you can’t keep him away for sport for long. He loves skiing and being outdoors.
