Tennis’ loss is cycling – and Team Sunweb’s – gain when it comes to Belgian Louis Vervaeke. What initially began as cross-training for the tennis player, became a long-term passion and career. After a rocky first season with the team, Louis is happy with his team performances in 2018 and remains dedicated as ever in the search of results.
“The feeling after a really hard race and really hard training – to be completely empty and give everything you have in your body, is so satisfying, even if you didn’t get the result you wanted.”
The climbing / time-trialling specialist, who finished 11th in the 2016 Tour of the Basque Country, is aiming to take another step this season, and ensure he is with the team leader in the final moments in the mountains of some of the toughest races in the WorldTour calendar. This attitude, he finds is much in line with the values Team Sunweb exercise.
Louis, 25, is curious, with a wide range of interests in life. He is always open to learning more, and enjoys reading and playing the playstation, but one of his biggest passions off the bike is speed – he loves cars and races around the track with his friends.
