Signing for Team Sunweb is a “dream come true” for Cees Bol. As soon as the Dutch man started racing at the age of seven, after joining his sister riding at ZWC-DTS Club as a child, he wanted to be a professional rider. And the 23-year-old believes he will be in the best possible environment making that step with Team Sunweb.
“Of course, to develop you need a lot of help, but it’s a lot easier to get that help when the team pushes on and is always challenging.”
Cees suffered concussion in 2017 and spent most of the season recovering. He therefore counts 2018 and his consistent form, amongst his greatest achievements on the bike, as well as a stage win at the Tour de Bretagne. Next season, he will be targeting good performances at the Spring Classics, knowing he can also improve his sprint amongst a young and ambitious team.
“I like speed. The best thing is when there is a really hard race and you are among the best riders and feel you can match them. To do that with a team, when you feel you really have the best cards in hard and can force the race – that is the best thing about cycling.
Off the bike, Cees loves to relax watching snooker, even if ‘it makes him sound like an old man’, and meet up with friends.
