Another new signing for Team Sunweb, Casper Pedersen is relishing the opportunity to develop amongst the world best.
The 2017 U23 European champion has a friend to thank for his love of cycling. As a child he played football but wasn’t motivated to continue the sport. Aged 13, he joined his mate for training, hired a bike, and that was it. His parents thought it would just be a flash interest, but it soon became a fully-fledged career.
A year after getting on a bike, the one-day specialist started racing and immediately felt a deep love for it.
With a background in track cycling too, Casper hopes to achieve good results for the team and play an integral role in the sprinter lead-outs for Team Sunweb this year, knowing he has some explosive speed and a desire to improve his positioning.
“Team Sunweb is an ambitious, hardworking and committed team. It seems the best place for a young guy like me to go. They have a lot of expertise and it’s a family environment with big goals. It’s a team I look up to when I see them racing, and how well they are performing. But they are never complacent about what they have achieved though.
The Dane believes he is curious, an extrovert and enjoys meeting new people, and is therefore enjoying the new opportunities joining Team Sunweb brings. The 2017 Tour of Denmark stage winner is up for a laugh, but equally knows when to zone in and focus ahead of a big goal.
Off the bike, the 22-year-old counts one of his greatest achievements in life graduating school alongside his cycling commitments. He loves to read about a range of different topics, enjoys playing video games with his friends and exploring the world.
