A former pro, Brian hung up his race wheels in 1991 and has relished various coaching positions throughout the past 27 years.

His most notable roles include 22 years with Cycling Australia before joining British Cycling to take up positions as both a junior academy and senior endurance coach. Brian was also responsible for the British women’s road team in between 2015-2016, during the buildup to the Rio Olympics before joining Team Sunweb in early 2018.
Now based in Austria, Brian has two children aged 12 and 9 who he spends as much of his spare time with as possible. On his days off and when he is not with his children, you can find Brian out riding his road bike and enjoying fast cars.

“I have been really fortunate to work with several very talented riders and am really proud of their results. Highlights like this include Jack Bobridge’s world U23 time trial championship win in 2009 and Michael Matthews world U23 road race championship win in 2010.”

Brian’s motivation is to be the best that he can be at what he does and considers himself privileged to be able to work in an area that he loves so much. “I think I am a better coach and trainer than I was a rider,” he jokes.
