ABOUT Michael Storer

Australian talent Michael Storer is one of the new additions to Team Sunweb’s WorldTour roster. Being a professional rider is new to him but he’s eager to learn all about it. “I’m really excited to join Team Sunweb and looking forward to working with the team, the riders and staff. There will be a lot of challenges that come with racing in the WorldTour, but I know I will have the best guidance in this team. I wanted a team that provides the best support for me to become a stronger and better athlete, both on and off the bike.”

20-year-old Storer spent two years riding as an U23 before his results caught the attention of the team. Storer performed consistently throughout 2016, finishing 3rd at the Oceania Championships U23 time trial, as well as securing the victory at Gran Premio die Poggiana and 7th in the GC of Tour de l’Avenir. He continued to impress during 2017 as he finished 3rd in the Australian U23 time trial championships, 5th in the GC at the Herald Sun Tour, 3rd in the GC at the Giro Ciclisto della Mont Blanc, 2nd in the Oceania Championships road race and 15th overall at the WorldTour Tour Down Under.

Storer wants to become a complete rider and further develop his strong time trial and climbing skills. Michael certainly wants to win some races in the future, but his dreams don’t focus on a specific race. “With the heavy climbs and temperature, I expect that the Italian races like the Tour of Lombardia and the Giro d’Italia would suit me well.”
