ABOUT Coryn Rivera

Coryn Rivera started cycling at nine years old and very quickly, the sport became second nature to her. “Riding in a race is a natural environment for me. I like the speed and the action and of course and I like winning. I feel completely free and comfortable when I’m on my bike, whether it’s in a race or not. Cycling is a way to explore new places, meet friends, clear my head and let my thoughts wander.”

With an impressive 71 National USA-Championships across road, track, cyclo-cross and mountain biking, it’s safe to say that Coryn Rivera is extremely talented on two wheels. When she started racing full-time in Europe at the beginning of 2017, she quickly proved that she is a force to be reckoned with after taking victories at the Tour of Flanders, Trofeo Alfredo Binda, Prudential RideLondon, Stage 3 of Tour of California, and a win at the team time trial world championships. After this strong list of palmares, Coryn finished 6th in the UCI World Ranking in 2017.

Classics like the Tour of Flanders are Coryn’s personal favourites because of the race’s history and the huge crowds that the events attract. “It was so unreal to become the first American to win Flanders. It’s so great to see that the full commitment of our team worked out and was rewarded like this. Every race we start together as a team and we always race with the intention to win. All team members push themselves to the limit, no matter who the team leader is on that day.”

This 25-year-old has definitely found her place in the peloton. “I had always dreamed of racing full time in Europe ever since I was a junior. My transfer to Team Sunweb has been a brilliant experience and I’m really enjoying racing a full European WorldTour program.”

When asked to give advice to young ambitious sprinters, the American says: “Have fun, work hard, and make the most of every opportunity. Oh and just keep eating bacon and eggs every morning.”
