Since joining Team Sunweb in 2014, Chad Haga has been on an incredible journey. Haga has continued to impress with his selfless work and he was one of the instrumental riders in the 2017 Giro d’Italia win. Someone that is happy to work for the team and sacrifice his own chances, Haga got the opportunity to chase his dream of winning a stage at a grand tour at this year’s Giro d’Italia. His victory on stage 21 of the race was one that resonated throughout the cycling world; a testament to his character. Looking to the future, Haga extends his contract with the team until the end of 2021.
“My whole career has been about making steady progress and improvement, and Team Sunweb’s philosophy and culture line up with my own perfectly to make that happen,” explained Haga. “Every year has been better than the last, so I have every reason to stay. I have been a part of the team’s greatest successes and even had some of my own along the way, and I’m excited to see what we can do together in the next two years!”
Team Sunweb coach Aike Visbeek added: “Chad has been in the team a long time and he knows our way of working. Every year he has made progress and the stage victory in the time trial at the Giro shows that he is continuing to get stronger as a rider. He is one of the most loyal riders in the peloton and has been a key player in some of the team’s biggest successes, such as the Giro d’Italia win in 2017. We think that he can still improve as a rider with us and continue his development as one of the most important WorldTour team players.”
