An exceptional talent, Bol has impressed with his strong racing as a neo-pro with the team. Starting the year with a top ten in his first WorldTour race at the Tour Down Under, Bol went on to take his maiden victory for the team in March at Danilith Nokere Koerse. May would prove to be a good month for Bol and the team with the 23-year-old winning his first WorldTour race with a superb sprint at the final day of racing at the Tour of California, before he doubled-up in his next outing by winning the opening stage at the Tour of Norway. Now with his sights set on his grand tour debut at the Tour de France, both Bol and the team are looking forward to working together until the end of 2021.
“I’ve had a dream start with the team,” explained Bol. “To win three races in my first season as a neo-pro is great. I’m really looking forward to continuing my development and making the next steps in my career with the team and I feel like this is the right place for me. We will continue to fight for more great results in the future.”
Team Sunweb coach Marc Reef added: “We’re really happy to have renewed our contract with Cees. He fits in with the team completely; he is always looking for ways to improve and to challenge himself and his surroundings. Since joining the team he has already made big steps forward and we have confidence that he can keep growing as a rider and as a person; capable of getting good results in the sprints or classics in the future.”
