Having finished in the top 10 of this morning’s individual time trial, climbing into the top 10 overall, Jarno Mobach put in another strong performance in this afternoon’s final stage to end the race 8th overall.

The short, fast stage 91.3km stage was aggressive from the start, with Development Team Sunweb racing on the front foot and making sure that they had the majority of the dangerous moves covered, as well as putting in the attacks themselves.

With everything back together late on, Marc Hirschi put in a big attack that helped set up the finish for Jarno who dug deep in the tough finish to cross the line 16th on the stage, and move up one place to 8th overall.

Team Sunweb coach Sebastian Deckert said after the race’s conclusion: “It was a hard last stage, and it was a good display of teamwork from what I saw today. The guys raced offensively which is what we wanted to do, and I’m happy with how they rode, even if the result doesn’t exactly show how we raced. We can take learning points out of the race and develop these in the training days that we have coming up in the team house to keep progressing.”
