ABOUT Rozanne Slik

If Rozanne is of any similarity to her grandfather, she will enjoy cycling for decades to come. He’s just over 80 years old but you can still find him riding over 70 kilometers on his bike. He is a big inspiration for both Rozanne and her brother Ivar, who cycles for the Dutch pro-continental Team Roompot.

During the winter this 25 year old enjoys going off-road. In 2008 she was 7th during the Junior European Championships Mountain bike Marathon. In 2012, Slik won the silver medal at the Dutch Mountain Bike Championships. “I’m focused on road racing. It’s nice to ride on the road as a team rather than as an individual, as I do in mountain biking. Every time I put on our team kit it makes me proud.”

Her biggest achievement in road cycling was her stage victory in the Auensteiner Radsporttage in 2015. Slik was part of a breakaway and she crossed the finish line first in a sprint. She also won a couple of national races in the Netherlands, such as the criterium of Stiphout. Most of the time she is working for the team leaders and is often the last rider in the lead-out train.

Rozanne is known as the team’s explorer as she always finds nice routes and coffee stops when the team is on a training camp. She performs best when the conditions are really tough. “I’m not afraid to ride on a bad track, because I can use my mountain bike techniques. I’m already visualizing the day my ultimate dream comes true: winning Strade Bianche.”

She spends her spare time with her friends and two dogs. Besides that, she also finds time for her studies in commercial economics as well as spending time writing about her life as a cyclist. Rozanne Slik is simply happy in life doing the things she loves.
