ABOUT Leon Rohde

“I was 12 when I saw Jan Ullrich riding the Tour de France on television and I was really impressed. I once met him during a training ride with my club, at that moment I knew that I wanted to become a professional cyclist too.”

Leon Rohde from Hamburg moves to the team from continental level at LKT Brandenburg and is specialised in riding sprints and time trials. Rohde already has an impressive list of palmares, especially in races on track where he has won national youth and junior titles. In the elite category he won a national title in the points race and gold on the Madison during the World Cup in Cali in 2015. With a high ranking result in the Tour of Berlin in 2014, he is also strengthening as a road rider.

From now on Rohde is going to focus exclusively on the road. His plans are clear, he’s a man with a mission.  “I want to achieve more of my potential, my biggest dream is to become a pro and win Milan-San Remo. I will help my teammates during races because with my speed, I’m able to ride a pretty good lead-out. Of course if there’s an opportunity, I would like to go for a personal victory.”

Rohde is pleased with the opportunities he will have as member of the Development Team. “I’m excited about the professional support and great equipment I will have access to. The culture and atmosphere of the team also suits me well. For me it’s a chance to demonstrate that I’m able to ride at this level and show what I’m capable of. I want to learn things, especially tactically. Off the bike I’m quite smart, but in the race not always. I have to learn to control myself more often, so I don’t waste any power.”
