ABOUT Johannes Fröhlinger

During a holiday in 1999 together with his father, Johannes saw cyclists riding on the slopes of the Col du Galibier and his desire to become a cyclist was ignited. Later Johannes Fröhlinger became professional at Team Gerolsteiner. As a life-long resident of Gerolstein, this is a fact he’s still very proud of.

Fröhlinger has been with the team since 2011 and since then has developed into one of the team’s well respected road captains, a role in which he shares knowledge with the team’s younger riders. One of Fröhlinger’s experience-sharing success stories was during the 2017 Vuelta a España, where he helped mentor the team’s younger riders through their first Grand Tour. “We started with a very young team with an average age of 23 years old. I’m proud that we managed to help Wilco Kelderman finish fourth in the general classification with such a young, talented team.”

Johannes has a lot of interests outside of cycling and it’s no secret that he’s a big fan of the punk-rock band, Bad Religion. He also enjoys the outdoors and spends time climbing mountains, hiking, surfing and skiing although his heart will always be with cycling. “Cycling is not only my profession, but also my way of life. It can be a great tool to bring people together and break barriers.”

"Let’s rock this race!"
