ABOUT Jarno Mobach

“I almost like every discipline in cycling; one-day races, time trials and climbing – I like it all. In the future I would like to ride the Grand Tours, but my first goal is to make the step from the Development Team to the pros”, says the 18 year old Dutchman.

He’s modest by nature, but full of ambition and cycling has always been a big interest of the Mobach family. When he was tall enough to reach the pedals of the old Colnago of his father rode, Jarno immediately started cycling. Not much later he rode his first race. His breakthrough was in 2016, when he won Paris-Roubaix for juniors. “I rode solo for a few kilometres when I entered the Velodrome of Roubaix. It was already full of fans, because our race was before the pros. I’ll never forget crossing the line as the winner, that moment really gave me goosebumps.”

With a fourth place at the Juniors E3 Harelbeke and two great results at the European Junior Championships in 2016 Jarno had a very successful year. As a final achievement Mobach received the provincial award for the biggest sports talent.

During the yearly organized ‘German Talent Days’ by Team Sunweb, Mobach again showed his capacities. “I just focused on what I’m good at.” When the team offered him a place in the Development Team, it wasn’t a difficult decision to make. “Everything is so professional within this team. We have the best equipment, the best clothing and the best coaches. This gives me the ultimate chance to grow as a rider. And thanks to my ‘top-sport status’ I can combine it with my studies in Human Movement.”
