ABOUT Jai Hindley

Together with Michael Storer, 21-year-old Jai Hindley is one of two new Aussies joining Team Sunweb at the start of the 2018 season. At the age of six he first took to two wheels, inspired by his parents, who also both like cycling. When was 13, he started his first race. After two years racing in continental teams he is ready for the step to the WorldTour.

Hindley is an extremely gifted and talented rider. In his short career, he has already taken some strong general classification results, such as a win at the Tour of Fuhzou, second at the Herald Sun Tour, third in the GC at the Giro Ciclistico d’Italia (‘Baby Giro’) and third at the Oceania Championships road race.

The young talent from Down Under is super excited to be joining Team Sunweb. “I think the team have shown they are quite big on innovation as well as developing young guys. This really stood out for me when looking for a new team. For 2018 my main goal is to grow as a cyclist, and to try to adapt to the professional style of racing.”

Hindley wants to progress as a climber and in the future, dreams of following the footsteps of GC riders like Tom Dumoulin. Over the next few years he will take time to develop across all different terrains and he realizes that he must work like crazy to make the most out of his career. All good adventures start with a dream: “Winning something at the Tour de France, that’s my biggest goal.”
