ABOUT Coryn Rivera

With an amazing total of 71 National USA-Championships across four different disciplines: road, track, cyclo-cross and ATB Coryn Rivera is an extremely talented cyclist who is more than ready to conquer Europe.

This 24 year old American from Tustin, California moves to the team from UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Team. She is a fast sprinter but can also be a good hill climber and she has the potential to become one of the best riders in one-day racing. Last year Rivera won stages in the Tour de San Luis and the International Thüringen-Rundfahrt. As well as this, she won two stages and the overall GC at the Joe Martin Stage Race. Now it’s time for her next step.

“Ever since I was a junior, I always dreamed of racing full time in Europe. I am very happy with my transfer to Team Sunweb and in making the step to the full European WorldTour. After graduating college it is now the right time for me to do this. I believe that the team, with its structure, beliefs and professionalism is the perfect place for me.”

Rivera started cycling at nine years old. Cycling became her second nature. “I feel free and comfortable when I’m on my bike. I’m really in my element during a race, it’s a natural environment for me. I like the speed and the action and of course, I like winning. The classic one-day races like the Tour of Flanders are my favourites because of the history of the race and the huge crowds. These are the best ingredients for me to perform well.”

Coryn Rivera is used to travelling. When she went to college, she moved 2,000 miles away from her family and her new European career meant that it was time to move again. She now lives in the team house in Sittard. It’s clear that this fearless woman is on a mission. Small, but mighty. We can’t wait to see her racing!
