The final stage of the Istrian Spring Trophy was a day for a team breakaway as Martin Salmon spent the day showcasing the Team Sunweb colours up the road. Martin was joined by 9 other riders and went on to take a lead of just under five minutes. As the race entered its 100th kilometre, the peloton upped the pace and began their chase to bring the breakaway back. As the action hotted up down the road, two rider from the breakaway jumped and Martin was quick on their heels. They maintained a solid gap until the final 10km when they were absorbed by the bunch. Max Kanter finished the day in 13th place with Leon Rohde close behind in 14th. Marc Goos also finishes the stage race 9th overall.

Team Sunweb coach Sebastian Deckert said: “Todays goal was to be in the breakaway and Martin did a great job to represent the team up the road. We wanted to be present in the finale but unfortunatly the team lost contact with each other and we were unable to go for a result. It’s been a really good few days with the team at the Istrian Spring Trophy and we can be pleased with the continuous development from the team.”
