Over the previous weeks, a number of Team Sunweb’s riders have been sidelined, team physician Anko Boelens details the recovery progress of these riders.

Lennard Hofstede

“Lennard made his debut at the Vuelta but was unfortunately forced to abandon on stage 12 due to sickness. After a rest period at home he is now fully recovered and has resumed normal training.”

Lennard Kämna

“After his withdrawal from the Vuelta a España, Lennard needed only a few days of rest before he was able to quickly resume full training. The intensity of a strenuous Grand Tour caused him a small irritation in his right knee and he has now fully recovered and ready for Sunday.”

Sam Oomen

“Sam left the Vuelta on stage 14 after falling ill in-between stages. He has now resumed normal training after taking a few days off the bike to recover, is back on track for Sunday’s world championships team time trial and eager to make the most of the remainder of his season.”

Leon Rohde

“Leon fractured his elbow during the recent Tour de l’Avenir and the fracture is healing well. He is making steps in the right direction and the most important thing is for him to fully recover and then we will evaluate his progress before we consider resuming normal outdoor training. If all goes well he could be training on his rollers in one week.”
