Juliette Labous

Competing in the French national cyclo-cross championships, Team Sunweb’s Juliette Labous fought a hard battle to take 4th place.

In with the action from the go, Juliette had a strong start holding onto second position. A crash inside the first lap saw Juliette’s chain drop, which caused her to drop down into the top 15 riders. As one rider went on to take a lead, 19-year-old Juliette pushed on and continued to pass her rivals to fight to get inside the top five riders. After powering through the course, Juliette held onto fourth place as she crossed the line.

Reactions

After the race Juliette said: “I can’t say I’m happy nor disappointed with finishing 4th. I had a perfect start and was in second position until I crashed and my chain dropped. After this I was in around 15th place and had to chase really hard until the end. I passed riders one by one until I got to 4th place, and the battle then became to keep this place as the fight for the podium was already gone. With only six cyclo-cross races this winter and without any specific preparation I have to be satisfied about the way I fought today and my shape at this moment in the year.”
