The first of three races in four days for Team Liv-Plantur is the Drentse 8 Acht van Westerveld this Thursday. This one-day Dutch race is very susceptible to crosswinds and so echelons can be expected to play their part on the outcome.
Amy Pieters leads a strong line-up with youth and experience here, including Sara Mustonen-Lichan who showed she’s finding her form after taking third at Sunday’s Omloop van het Hageland.
Coach Hans Timmermans said: “As a team we have shown race on race that we are getting stronger, and so we are not afraid of racing in the crosswinds and making it hard. The past editions of the race have often come down to a bunch sprint and although we are missing Lucy [Garner – recovering from knee pain] we have another fast sprinter in Sara who can go for a good result in this instance.”
