After a tough time trial at altitude, the team put in a huge effort to fight for every last second with Sam Oomen being the team’s best placed rider.
The penultimate stage of racing at the Amgen Tour of California saw riders complete a 24 kilometre individual time trial around Big Bear Lake. Although flat, various corners and turns made for quite a technical course with 2000 metres of altitude adding to the many factors that made for a tough day on the road. After a powerful start, Sam Oomen set out to limit losses ahead of tomorrow’s finishing stage. A strong ride saw Sam finish with a time of 29 minutes and 52 seconds, also retaining his second place in the best young rider competition with just three seconds separating him from first. The teams next best placed rider was Ramon Sinkeldam, who’s clock stopped at 31 minutes 39 seconds.
